Ingredients:
- 2 medium Gala apples
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 3 tablespoons sugar (for coating)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
- 4 oz whipped cream
- ¼ cup caramel sauce
Directions:
1. Begin by peeling the Gala apples and cutting them into wedges that are approximately 1/4-inch thick. Carefully remove the cores.
2. In a medium bowl, mix the melted butter with the apple wedges, allowing each piece to be generously coated with the butter. Sprinkle in the 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon and toss well to combine.
3. Set your air fryer to 400°F and give it a few minutes to preheat.
4. Once heated, lay the apple wedges in the air fryer basket in a single layer without overcrowding. Air fry for 5-7 minutes until they achieve a golden-brown and crispy edge.
5. In the interim, prepare the cinnamon-sugar mixture by combining the sugar with the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon in a small bowl.
6. When the apple wedges are done, remove them from the air fryer and promptly toss them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to thoroughly coat them.
7. For the dipping sauce, take a clean bowl and gently fold the caramel sauce into the whipped cream using a spatula, being careful not to deflate the cream.
8. Chill the caramel whipped cream for around 10 minutes to enhance the flavor fusion.
9. Serve the warm apple wedges on a plate with the caramel whipped cream dipping sauce on the side for an irresistible treat.
