Ingredients
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour (heat-treated for safety)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
For the Pastry:
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
2 tablespoons granulated sugar (optional, for sprinkling)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla, flour, and salt, mixing until a smooth dough forms. Fold in mini chocolate chips.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Spread the cookie dough evenly over half of the pastry.
- Fold the pastry in half over the cookie dough, gently pressing down. Slice the dough into 1-inch strips.
- Twist each strip several times and place on the prepared baking sheet. Brush each twist with egg wash and sprinkle with granulated sugar if desired.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden and puffed. Cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Freeze the cookie dough for 10 minutes before spreading for easier handling.
